Parker Jacoby, age twenty-four, left her parents when she was sixteen. She and her family lived in Madison, and her parents were avid Crawley followers. Her father had met him as a young child and believed him to be a god on earth. Her mother was just as infatuated with Crawley, and their goal was to get Parker into Crawley’s inner circle. The night before Parker was to have an audience with Crawley, she ran away from her parents in Madison. She did not believe in Crawley’s godlike status, nor his dictator principles. Parker ran to Green Bay where she became a farm hand for a couple years. Then, Parker became restless. She fell in with a group of scavengers that roam the places in between the major cities. She learned to survive on her own, and decided to leave that group when she was twenty-two. Parker eventually made her way back to Madison, a completely different person from when she left. Though the same height, 5’2’’, she had chopped her hair short, had become more slender and muscular. Her attire was typically a par of ragged tight black pants and a brown leather jacket. She looked more like an outlaw than the chubby spoiled girl she had been before. One day while roaming the streets of Madison, she saw her parents right in front of her. She began to smile and wave when her mother looked right at her, and muttered something about dirty scavengers roaming the streets. Her father led her mother across the street and on their way. Parker realized that she had become something completely foreign from her upbringing, and this brought her a satisfaction that she would never end up like her parents. After the encounter with them, Parker caught a caravan to Milwaukee where she went to a local Bazaar. She was looking at a new knife when she looked over Lake Michigan and spotted a couple ships on the horizon. She had heard some things about The Sullivan’s Fleet, but had never seen the pirates up close. She envied the mysticism they possessed, along with the freedom. At that point, she decided she was going to join the Fleet. Parker, though pixie-like, has a fierce personality and some rough fighting skills she learned from the group of scavengers. She was well-educated while she grew up, and maintained her affinity for reading and history. She believed that the only way the world can regroup is to reinstall literacy in the known world. Too many people are cut off from knowledge, and Parker believed this is what contributes to so many divisions in society. This is something she cared deeply about as a teenager, but as she grew up, she lost some of her faith in humanity’s ability to change and grow. Because of her years scavenging and laboring, literacy lost some of its potential in her eyes. People did just fine without being able to read and knowing history; they learned to work from older generations and neighbors. Parker now believes in societies that are like families, and this is what she desires from the Fleet, as well as adventure and feeling carefree.
